Growing Community, One Flower at a Time
This weekend, the South Renton Connection Mutual Aid Committee brought a little more color and joy to our neighborhood through a community flower planting event.
Volunteers gathered to purchase flowers from McLendon's, supporting a local business before heading to Linear Park and Tonkin Park to spend the morning planting vibrant blooms throughout these shared community spaces. Working side by side, neighbors of all ages rolled up their sleeves, dug into the soil, and transformed the parks into even more welcoming places for everyone to enjoy.
While the flowers brighten our parks, the event was about much more than landscaping. It was an opportunity to build community, strengthen connections, and demonstrate how small acts of service can make a meaningful difference. Every flower planted is a reminder that when neighbors come together, we create spaces that reflect the care and pride we have for South Renton.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who volunteered their time and energy, as well as to McLendon's for helping make this project possible. We are grateful for everyone who continues to invest in our community through acts of kindness and service.
Be sure to check out the photos below to see our volunteers in action and the beautiful results of their hard work. We look forward to seeing you at our next Mutual Aid event!
